Our History

Steve’s European Automotive began like many other businesses--just an idea in a garage. Flashback to the early 80’s, where a young Steve Fowler found himself armed with a degree in Automotive Mechanics and Teacher Education. The plan was to teach high school Auto Shop. However, in his down time, Steve found himself repairing more and more cars for family and friends out of his home garage. As word of mouth spread to neighbors and acquaintances, Steve soon realized there could be more to this repair business than he originally thought.

In the ‘83 Steve decided to swap career paths, and put everything into repairing cars. As the clientele grew, so did the need for something larger than a garage. In the summer of 1988 Steve moved the business into a building on M-59 in White Lake, Michigan. Now specializing in Volkswagen’s and Audi’s, Steve’s VW was born. Business continued to grow as a result of Steve’s core principals: provide exceptional automotive service and a superior customer experience at a fair and reasonable price. Soon those core principals would become our Mission Statement.

In January of 1997, Steve’s moved to its current location on the corner of Pontiac Lake Rd. and Crescent Lake Rd. in Waterford. The focus now extended to all European vehicles, so a little re-branding was in order: Steve’s European Automotive was finally here.

Today, the Steve’s family continues to grow with eight full-time technicians, and 3 service advisors, including Steve’s son Jordan. Meticulously selected, each of our employees embody our core values: honesty, integrity, and exceptional service. We operate on the key principle that these values combined with great service will resonate with our clients. After all, there’s plenty of shops in the area, but we hope our clients see our values reflected in the service we offer. We’re always humbled and honored when someone chooses us.
